An airline sent a couple’s lost luggage to a lodge on a distant Scottish island, 5 days after they had checked out and had been on the other facet of the place.

Ansen Bayer and his wife Amandria flew with American Airways from Chicago to Dublin in Ireland, in advance of shifting to an Aer Lingus flight to Glasgow, Scotland.

The couple have been travelling for their 15th wedding day anniversary and had their flights cancelled twice in advance of their journey began. Ansen, who had primarily brought have-on luggage to stay away from it getting misplaced, was compelled to test his bags in Chicago in any case.

When they arrived in Glasgow, he seen their baggage were lacking, together with all those owned by six other passengers. Ansen submitted a grievance and was advised by Eagle Aviation, the corporation applied by Aer Lingus, that their luggage would be delivered to their lodge.

Since the couple experienced to choose a educate, a bus, and two ferries to access their hotel in Iona, a distant island off the West coast of Scotland, they feared it was not likely their baggage would get there right before they remaining.

“I found an e-mail for them and begged them to not ship our luggage to the resort, because they would not arrive on time,” Ansen told Insider. “We were being heading again to Glasgow for a working day in any case and could select our baggage up at the airport.”

As Bayer predicted, the luggage did not arrive till 5 days immediately after they experienced checked out, when they were being by now on the other aspect of the region in Edinburgh.

“I attempted to describe that Iona is pretty remote and it would not get there on time, but they said there was practically nothing they could do.”

The misplaced baggage, which is however waiting in Iona, was just one particular of a number of hiccups on a journey that included cancelations, delays, and large lines at Chicago Airport’s immigration checkpoints, underlining the effects of the journey chaos impacting Europe and the US this summer months.

“Almost everything about this practical experience with Aer Lingus has been horrible, but their finish and utter lack of any semblance of buyer assistance or even response to someone who has had a awful experience with them is appalling to me,” he said.

“I guess we can assert we backpacked throughout the British isles considering that our backpacks are all we had,” Ansen added. “But soon after preserving up for decades for this when-in-a-life span trip, it still feels like we had been robbed a little bit by the airways, forcing us to go by the excursion with no our baggage that we under no circumstances even wanted to check in the 1st put.”

Aer Lingus and Eagle Aviation have been contacted for comment.
