Gary Rogers, Executive Chef at Carton House wins Best Executive Chef

I am delighted to share the brilliant news that Gary Rogers from Fairmont, Carton House was awarded Best Executive Chef at the IHI Awards on Thursday 24th November which took place at Burlington Road. Gary Rogers is Executive Chef at the five star Fairmont managed property, Carton House in Kildare, which is surrounded by 1,100 acres of sweeping parkland, ancient woodlands, lakes and the meandering River Rye, just 25 minutes from Dublin.
In the past twenty-five years Gary carved out a rich and varied career in the industry. He became Head Chef for the first time at just 21 (“I thought I knew it all but really, I knew nothing!”) and since then trained and worked in several five-star hotel and restaurant outlets, as well as banqueting. Gary also spent time in Australia, where he worked as Executive Chef at the five-star SKYCITY in Darwin – now Mindil Beach Casino Resort – a casino resort with 150 rooms and five restaurants.
He returned to Ireland in 2016 and took up the role of Executive Chef at the five-star Lyrath Estate in Kilkenny, which was followed by a two-year stint as Executive Chef at the five-star Conrad Hotel in Dublin City. In May of last year, Gary took on his present position of Executive Chef of Carton House, where he overlooks three restaurants, The Morrison Room, which offers a fine dining experience, Kathleen’s Kitchen, which serves traditional fare with a contemporary twist, and the Carriage House, serving a relaxed menu of gourmet sandwiches and pastries.
